Today’s Blog is gonna be quite technically, but to get some understandings for our customers, we love to provide useful information.
Importance of a speedy and fast website is the main challenge – as it is a quite technically issue! Your customers like to have a fast website – otherwise they might go away from your website, trying to find some alternatives (such as services or products), where they get served “faster”.
But how things like this are connected together – we need to understand how it is working – so we are able to manage our own website, by choosing either another Web Hosting Provider or Internet Service Provider, adding a better cache tool (Web Cache), or adding a CDN (Content Delivery Network).
We need to understand how the internet is connected together, this might be different per country, but most of it, there are many Internet Exchange Points all over the world. Those IXP’s are connected together in the best way.
The most difficult thing is to manage all website elements, to cache them in the right way. This includes images, text, files needed for the design, files needed for all the functions for a website.
Samui Infotech know the issue, that a website needs to be served fast. And we are trying our best to provide a fast website for our customers.
Ask us, if You think, Your website could be faster, and we will check all possibilities to make your website faster!
Glossar – some technically information:
An Internet exchange point (IX or IXP) is a physical infrastructure through which Internet service providers (ISPs) and content delivery networks (CDNs) exchange Internet traffic between their networks (autonomous systems).
IXPs reduce the portion of an ISP’s traffic which must be delivered via their upstream transit providers, thereby reducing the average per-bit delivery cost of their service. Furthermore, the increased number of paths available through the IXP improves routing efficiency and fault-tolerance. In addition, IXPs exhibit the characteristics of what economists call the network effect.
The Bangkok Neutral Internet Exchange (BKNIX) is first neutral and independent internet exchange in Thailand based in Bangkok under Thailand Network Information Center Foundation (THNICF). Cloudflare (a worldwide CDN) is using the Bangkok Neutral Internet Exchange BKNIX for its services. A short introduction about the BKNIX You find here:

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.
Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for other servers located in their data center, called colocation, also known as Housing in Latin America, Asia or Europe.
An Internet service provider (ISP) is an organization that provides services for accessing, using, or participating in the Internet. Internet service providers may be organized in various forms, such as commercial, community-owned, non-profit, or otherwise privately owned.
Internet services typically provided by ISPs include Internet access, Internet transit, domain name registration, web hosting, Usenet service, and colocation.
A content delivery network or content distribution network (CDN) is a geographically distributed network of proxy servers and their data centers. The goal is to provide high availability and high performance by distributing the service spatially relative to end-users. CDNs came into existence in the late 1990s as a means for alleviating the performance bottlenecks of the Internet, even as the Internet was starting to become a mission-critical medium for people and enterprises. Since then, CDNs have grown to serve a large portion of the Internet content today, including web objects (text, graphics and scripts), downloadable objects (media files, software, documents), applications (e-commerce, portals), live streaming media, on-demand streaming media, and social media sites.
CDNs are a layer in the internet ecosystem. Content owners such as media companies and e-commerce vendors pay CDN operators to deliver their content to their end users. In turn, a CDN pays ISPs, carriers, and network operators for hosting its servers in their data centers.
CDN is an umbrella term spanning different types of content delivery services: video streaming, software downloads, web and mobile content acceleration, licensed/managed CDN, transparent caching, and services to measure CDN performance, load balancing, Multi CDN switching and analytics and cloud intelligence. CDN vendors may cross over into other industries like security, with DDoS protection and web application firewalls (WAF), and WAN optimization.
A Web cache (or HTTP cache) is an information technology for the temporary storage (caching) of Web documents, such as Web pages, images, and other types of Web multimedia, to reduce server lag. A Web cache system stores copies of documents passing through it; subsequent requests may be satisfied from the cache if certain conditions are met. A Web cache system can refer either to an appliance or to a computer program.
